Uncovered lets you read the opening of a book without knowing its title, and save the ones you love. We collect as little as we can, we never sell your data, and we don't run ads. Here is exactly what happens.
Your email, only if you choose to subscribe, so we can send you the emails you asked for and keep your shelf. The books you save, so your shelf is waiting when you come back. Our host also keeps standard server-log information (IP address, browser, the page that referred you, and an approximate location) to run the site securely.
If you subscribe, we set one strictly necessary sign-in cookie (uc_sess) so you stay signed in on your device.
During our launch we are also running Microsoft Clarity for a short period. Clarity sets its own cookies and records anonymized on-page interactions (clicks, scrolls, and navigation) to build heatmaps and show us how people read and share. That data is processed by Microsoft under its own terms. We are using it briefly to learn how the site gets shared and where visitors arrive from, and we will remove it and move to fully cookieless measurement once we're done.
Alongside Clarity, we count anonymous actions, how many openings are read, revealed, saved, or shared, and how long a preview is read, using first-party, cookieless analytics. These counts are aggregate, do not identify you, and are never shared with advertisers.
We do not sell or rent your information, we do not run advertising, and we do not use cross-site advertising trackers.
You can ask us to show you, correct, or delete the information we hold about you (your email and your shelf) at any time, and you can unsubscribe from any email we send. To limit Clarity specifically, block cookies or turn on Do Not Track in your browser. We keep your email and shelf until you ask us to delete them; anonymous usage counts up to 12 months; server logs up to 24 months.
